About

Hello and welcome, here you can gain a glimpse of who I am and if you like what you see please get in contact. I understand how hard it can be to get in touch, but remember you’ve already taken steps by exploring my website.

I came to the counselling profession later in my life after an accident left me unable to continue in my previous career. Due to my experiences of my career suddenly being taken away from me I can understand when others experience significant changes in life , which sometimes can be hard to navigate. I can sit along side you whilst you work out your new direction.

I work with Person-Centred Counselling. What this means is you lead how you’d like your sessions to be and you tell me the areas in your life you want to work on.

I am a integrative counsellor , what on earth does that mean I hear you say ,well it means I will use a variety of approaches to suit the individual client, but always in a person centred way. This can be using CBT ,solution finding,  creative and mindfulness methods.

This relationship we build will enable you to understand yourself better, work through problems and develop yourself, which leads to improved communication within your other relationships and when you understand the causes of your concerns or any triggers for behaviour you can address them. You  can also develop new behaviours, set goals which can aid improving overall satisfaction with life.

Whilst I was retraining to become a counsellor I volunteered with a couple of charities, one which works with children within the school setting and I had a couple of amazing years working with children between the ages of 5 and 14 and to see the children I worked with begin to gain confidence and build on their  self esteem was wonderful. I worked within a boarding school which has given me an insight to the problems children experience within this setting, it’s not easy for a child being sent away to stay at a school rather than being at home with their parents and going to school from the safety of home.

My Passion

I work with both adults and young people, and I have a special interest in the impact social services have on families, both birth families and foster families.I have experience of supporting young people within the care sector and also adults who have experienced social services being a part of their lives, from parents whom have had children taken away from them, to foster Carer’s  who look after children in care and the adults that these children become.
I am also interested in how significant loss in our lives can lead to ongoing issues with the other people around us and how we relate to them. Also how substance misuse can evolve from the pain of loss and lead to strained relationships. So if your having problems with relationships and want to explore these Id love to meet with you and explore this within a safe environment please get in contact.

My Goals

My goals are for every person I sit with to feel listened to and actually heard. Often we can need to offload or explore what’s going on with out others telling us what they would do in our situation, this is where counselling comes in as it gives that space which is all yours, no judgment,no advice just time and space to explore.

Another goal is to make counselling affordable so I offer a couple of spaces at discounted rates.
